Zebraman 2: Attack on Zebra City (2010)

Zebraman 2: Attack on Zebra City is a Japanese movie written by Kankuro Kudo and directed by Takashi Miike. It was released by Toei in Japan on May 1, 2010.

The film is set in the year 2025, 15 years after Zebraman’s epic battle with invading aliens. Tokyo has been transformed into a thriving metropolis called “Zebra City”, a place where crime has been all but eliminated by a harsh policy called “Zebra Time”. Every day at 5am and 5pm, the Zebra Police spend exactly 5 minutes eradicating anyone who may be a potential criminal—as well as the sick and elderly. Meanwhile, top mega idol Zebra Queen (Riisa Naka), who’s actually the governor’s daughter Yui, has become the face of the city and plans to leverage her power toward world domination—but not before taking out her main pop idol rival.

Shinichi (Show Aikawa) suddenly wakes up in this new era with no memory of his past as Zebraman. However, his re-awakening occurs at exactly 5am, and he’s promptly shot at by police. Fortunately, he’s rescued and discovers a secret resistance group including a doctor named Asano and a mysterious young girl named Sumire. When Shinichi accidentally touches her, part of his body is suddenly covered in zebra stripes and his memory comes flooding back. At that very moment, the Zebra Queen goes through a transformation of her own, setting up an epic black and white battle of good vs. evil.
