14sai, or “14 years old”, is not so much a story about kids who are 14 years old as much as it’s a story about how things that influence you at that impressionable age can have a profound impact on the path you take throughout the rest of your life. Ryo is a schoolteacher who witnesses firsthand how some of her colleagues tend to squash the ambitions of their students and keep them from reaching their potential. It stirs up painful memories of her childhood which closely mirrored what the students are currently going through around her. She meets a man named Koichi who was once a promising young pianist but now works at the local electric company. The two share their similar experiences, as well as their regrets in this emotionally stirring drama.
