Here’s the trailer for Symphony in August: Shibuya 2002-2003, an animated movie based on two books by singer/songwriter Ai Kawashima. The story revolves around her relationship with her supportive mother who passed away, her initial goal of performing for the public 1,000 times on the streets of Shibuya, and her eventual rise to fame through those performances. The film was written and directed by Akio Nishizawa, founder of WAO World Co., Ltd., an animation company he started in 2000 to produce films “to be enjoyed by parents and children and filled with the message to enrich the mind.”

“Symphony in August” will get a nationwide road show in August of 2009. The theme song is Daijobu Dayo by Kawashima herself.
