Argentine Baba, aka Argentine Hag, is the story of a girl named Mitsuko (Maki Horikita) who gets abandoned by her father (Koji Yakusho) after her mother dies. Her aunt takes her in and she gets a part-time job at a massage parlor (no, not that kind). She soon discovers her father has moved in with a nearby Japanese-Argentine woman (Kyoka Suzuki). Mitsuko visits the woman, fully expecting her to be a vindictive hag. Instead she quickly finds out the woman is quirky, but extremely friendly. Now she just has to figure out why her father was so quick to abandon his daughter and skip out on his wife's funeral.
