Extended Trailer - Eureka

Extended trailer for Shinji Aoyama’s Eureka, which originally premiered at the Cannes Film Festival on May 18, 2000.

Plot: A bus is hijacked by a businessman with a gun. By the time the police are able to incapacitate him he has killed everyone but the driver and two middle school children, all three having come a split second from being shot themselves during the incident. The bus driver, Makoto (Koji Yakusho), is left with guilt over his survival and runs away from home, leaving his wife behind.

Two years later Makoto returns home but feels alienated from his family and friends. When he discovers the children from the bus, Naoki (Masaru Miyazaki) and Kazue (Aoi Miyazaki), are living all alone in a large house he decides he should move in with them, feeling some sort of connection with them he can no longer have with anyone else. The three form a special bond and Makoto feels as though his survival is validated through taking care of them. Meanwhile, a series of murders happens close to them and Makoto becomes the prime suspect.
