Here’s the trailer for Shinichi Mishiro‘s Listen to My Heart, which was recently shopped around at Cannes, hence the English subtitles being available so early.
The story revolves around a radio DJ named Mao Kubota (Takako Tokiwa) who starts a radio show called “Love Letters From the Drawer” with which she helps motivate people to express their thoughts and feelings to loved ones when even simple things like “I’m sorry” or “Thank you” seem difficult.
According to Tokyograph, distributor Shochiku has early visions of the film attaining similar success as Departures, which went on to win multiple Japanese Academy Awards, an Oscar, and earn over 3 billion yen at the box office since its release late last year. Japanese audiences will get to decide that for themselves when the film is released in theaters this October.
