Kadokawa Pictures has released the full trailer for Toshihiko Ooka‘s Ikechan to Boku, a live-action adaptation of Rieko Saibara‘s metaphorical 2006 picture book about a boy’s relationship with his mother. The film will be released in Japan on June 20, 2009.

Plot: For as long as he can remember, Toshio (Arashi Fukasawa) has had a mysterious blob-like companion named Ikechan (voiced by popular actress Yu Aoi) watching over him. When Ikechan is happy, she multiples; when she’s troubled, she shrinks; and when he becomes friendly with girls she turns red and starts getting angry. Throughout their time together Ikechan sticks up for Toshio when he’s bullied, and the two of them fight when she becomes too smothering for his liking. Then one day when Toshio is older and has experienced his first love, Ikechan vanishes from his sight.
