The official website for Sakichi Sato‘s “Konchu Tantei Yoshida Yoshimi” (Insect Detective Yoshimi Yoshida) has been updated with a trailer.
Based on a gag manga by Aozora Daichi, the film stars Show Aikawa as a detective who uses his unique ability to communicate with insects to solve various bug-related cases. Occasionally he receives assistance from a dog named Mugi with a 3rd-grade intelligence and a foul-mouthed parrot named Piitan.
The bugs used in the film were real, and aside from a few big special effects scenes such as a large bomb blast, very little CG was used. At one point the cast and crew had to stay late into the night as they waited for two beetles to mate in a pivotal scene.
Distributor Libero will be releasing “Konchu Tantei Yoshida Yoshimi” in Japan on April 3, 2010.
Thanks to logboy for the heads up.
