A trailer has finally been added to the official website for Yoriko Jun‘s live-action adaptation of Yukiya Sakuragi’s manga Inubaka.
The film stars Suzanne as a dog lover named Suguri Miyauchi who moves from Kumamoto to Tokyo with her beloved male mixed breed dog, Lupin. When they arrive, Lupin suddenly bolts in a specific direction. By the time Suguri catches up, Lupin has already mounted a purebred Labrador Retriever named Noa as her owner Teppei (Hidenori Tokuyama) looks on in shock. Teppei is the manager of a pet store called “Woofles” and coerces Suguri into taking a job there to make up for Noa’s defilement.
Teppei watches in amazement as Suguri’s connection with dogs becomes evident. She’s willing to pick up dog poop by hand, all the puppies in Woofles pee with joy when they see her, and she seems to be able to understand what the dogs are thinking at any given time. Surrounded by a bunch of cute dogs, an often thoughtless shop employee named Kentaro (Ryosuke Okada), and various customers, Suguri manages to spark quite a few unexpected happenings at her new workplace.
“Inubaka” will open at Shibuya Theater Tsutaya on November 21, 2009 with subsequent dates to follow.

I Love Inubaka!!! Though i’ve read until volume 5 of the manga, i really love it!!
It makes me cry, laugh, and i can’t stpo reading, because in each chapter you’ll learn something new about how to love and raise your own dogs, and also gives advice on how to train, how to feed, how to clean…it’s great!!
i hope i can see the live-action soon
I don’t have Suguri’s powers but i really love dogs with all my heart, especially my own dogs!!
I am crazy for dogs!!!
I LOVE Inubaka. I bet this movie is fabulous though us fans in America probably won’t get to see it for a long time (dubbing, etc.).
Don’t you think it looks a little bit forced. The backrounds aren’t that great, and netiehr are the coustumes. I think this is just another movie that was made in a backyard, because someone was bored. The scene were the dog died looked horrible , the crying was horribly played and the dog’s eyes were open when he ‘died’. I am a serious Inubaka fan, and that is not what this manga truuly deserves. I know I sound dramatic, but watch it again, it was clearly poorly made.
@Inubaka?: Yep, it had a super low budget, b-list actors, and got sent to DVD pretty quick. I understand how that would be a disappointment for a fan of the manga, but they just didn’t get any better offers from a bigger production company. It was either go cheap or don’t make it at all.
I don’t really like the lead actress, but the dogs, the dogs! ~~ A pity we probably won’t ever get to watch this one down under via normal means, though. :(
