Rika Nishina (Megumi Okina), a volunteer social worker, is sent to check up on an old woman. She finds her in a catatonic state without any of her family members around. Strange things start happening and she discovers a little boy trapped in an upstairs closet. What Rika doesn't know is that years earlier there were a series of gruesome murders in that house, and the vengeful ghosts of Kayako Saeki and her son Toshio are still residing there.
