Trailer - The Wonderful World of Captain Kuhio (Kuhio Taisa)

Here’s the trailer for Daihachi Yoshida’s Kuhio Taiso. Based on Kazumasa Yoshida’s 2006 novel “Kekkon Sagishi Kuhio Taisa” (literally “Marriage Swindler: Captain Kuhio”), the plot revolves around a con artist (Masato Sakai) who poses as an American military pilot to woo three women (Yasuko Matsuyuki, Yuko Nakamura, and Hikari Mitsushima) and bilk them out of a combined 100 million yen.

The story itself is based on a real-life swindler who operated from the 70s to the 90s. In 2001, rock musician Kiyoshiro Imawano played a character named Richard Sagawa in Takashi Miike’s “The Happiness of the Katakuris” which was based on the same guy.

Distributor Showgate will be releasing “Kuhio Taisa” in Japan this October.
