Somtime in the early Showa Era, recent graduate Yoko (Chizuru Ikewaki) gets a job working as the personal assistant for legendary author and founder of Bungeishunju, Kan Kikuchi. Having grown up in an old-fashioned district, she’s fascinated by Japanese pop culture and the dazzling lifestyle of modern Ginza and its surrounding areas. Soon she meets a young Korean playboy named Hae-song Ma (Hidetoshi Nishijima) who catches her eye, causing tension with Kikuchi. As time passes, both men seem to remain stagnant in the lives they’ve carved out for themselves, while Yoko continues to grow and become more independent and ambitious in her own right.
