Teaser - Orochi: Blood

Here’s the first teaser for Norio Tsuruta’s live-action adaptation of Kazuo Umezu’s manga series Orochi which ran from 1969 to 1970.

In the film, Mitsuki Tanimura plays Orochi, an immortal being who must sleep once every 100 years. The rest of the time, she carefully observes humanity’s fate. She becomes fascinated with a woman named Aoi Monzen (Yoshino Kimura), a famous actress harboring a dark family secret: every Monzen woman begins life beautiful but suddenly turns horrifically ugly at the age of 29.

Now 29 herself, Miss Monzen desperately wants her two daughters, Risa and Kazusa, to become talented artists before she meets this fate. Orochi is perfectly content to watch this situation play out from the shadows, but when a car accident threatens to cut this family narrative short, she decides to intervene. She gets severely injured in the process, losing enough blood to trigger her next scheduled slumber 10 years prematurely. She revisits the Monzen family many years later, and what she finds will typify the worst aspects of humanity.
