A schoolgirl named Mariko Iwata (Sakura Ando) is harrassed by two thugs when she gets off the ferry on the way to school. In a struggle, they end up knocking her bag into the water. Suddenly another man (Takao Sasaki), apparently their leader, dives in to retrieve it for her. When she next sees him on the street she explains that in exchange for his friends’ behavior the man should become her bodyguard from perverts. Surprisingly, the next day he appears at her school and walks her and her friends home. The man is Seong-Mun Jo, a loan shark and wannabe yakuza. His Korean heritage keeps him at a low level, forced to do all the dangerous grunt work for a Japanese yakuza named Tamura (Kazuki Kitamura).

At first he refuses to even tell Mariko his name for fear that she’d shun him for his nationality, but when he discovers that she happens to be half Korean herself he finally opens up and allows her into his life. However, things get complicated when his dream of becoming a real yakuza directly clashes with their relationship.
