Making the Internet rounds today is the new teaser trailer for the upcoming yakuza film Outrage, Takeshi Kitano‘s much-heralded return to the genre that made him an international icon amongst fans of Asian cinema and darling of the film festival circuit in the mid-90s and early 00s.

Plot: Big-time crime boss Sekiuchi (Soichiro Kitamura) heads a yakuza syndicate which claims territory throughout most of the Kanto region. When he decides he wants a certain situation with the unaffiliated Murase gang dealt with, he assigns the task to his top lieutenant, Kato (Tomokazu Miura). The difficult assignment quickly gets delegated to Ikemoto’s right-hand man Ikemoto (Jun Kunimura), eventually getting passed off to lower ranking crew leader Otomo (Kitano). For some reason, Otomo always seems to get stuck with the dirty work.

“Outrage” will be collaboratively released in Japan by Office Kitano and Warner Bros. on June 12, 2010.
