In an attempt to consolidate his reign and eliminate any possible threat to it, Tokugawa Ieysu orchestrates a feud between the Iga and Koga clans by ordering each of them to choose 5 of their most powerful ninja warriors to fight to the death. Two of these representatives, Gennosuke (Joe Odagiri) and Oboro (Yukie Nakama) are actually lovers.
