The official website for Sabu‘s The Crab Cannery Ship has been updated with a new full trailer, but be warned that if you watch this one at work you may be inspired to start a spontaneous revolt.
The film is based on a 1929 novel by Takiji Kobayashi, which was previously adapted by actor/director So Yamamura in 1953. In this incarnation, Ryuhei Matsuda stars as an overworked sailor on a crab cannery ship who incites other workers to mutiny against their abusive overseer (Hidetoshi Nishijima) in an attempt to take over the ship for themselves.
IMJ Entertainment and Xanadu will be collaborating on a theatrical release sometime this summer.

Wow, times have changed—Sabu has gone all serious and Ryuhei Matsuda is a macho crab fisherman. What next, somebody from SMAP playing Zatoichi?
