Tetsuya Kumagawa (Yosuke Kubozuka) has been in love with Emi (Meisa Kuroki) since the age of 10. When he finds out she has a terminal disease he dedicates himself to a career in medicine in order to someday find a cure. If that wasn’t enough to worry about, the arsonist who was responsible for the death of her father years ago has recently been released from prison.
